Step 1
Measure the clear opening
Measure inside the drawer at its narrowest usable width and depth. Do not use the external cabinet dimensions.

Calculated fit
117 total 42 mm cells within 550 × 410 mm of planned usable space.
Graphite Modular recommendation
Up to 4 complete systems fit in the planned space (2 across × 2 deep). External envelope: 267 × 201 × 137 mm.
Adjust the example measurements, then calculate to record your result.
Step 1
Measure inside the drawer at its narrowest usable width and depth. Do not use the external cabinet dimensions.
Step 2
Look for tapered sides, runner hardware, screw heads, handles, locks, cable routes, and anything hanging below the drawer above.
Step 3
Use a side and top allowance that reflects how the parts will be installed and removed. Increase it if the drawer is not square.
Use the calculated columns and rows to plan baseplates and bins. The remaining millimetres are inside your chosen allowance; decide whether to centre the grid, leave access at the front, or reserve a strip for long tools.
Follow the recommended product link, then compare its complete external dimensions with the real installation. The calculator uses the finished frame envelope, not only the nominal Gridfinity footprint.

Measure the clear internal width and depth in millimetres, subtract any edge clearance, then divide each usable dimension by the 42 mm Gridfinity pitch. Always round down to complete grid cells.
Real drawers can taper, contain screw heads, or lose space to runners and handles. A small planning allowance reduces the chance that a mathematically exact layout binds or cannot be installed.
Yes. Height is used to check the CAD-derived external envelope of current Graphite Modular drawer systems. Leave enough top clearance for the drawer to close without contacting the stored items.
Yes. The grid result is based on the standard 42 mm pitch, so it can be used to plan a loose compatible baseplate and bin layout. Check the exact dimensions and tolerances of the parts you intend to use.
